Echuca

15-16 April 2016

The plan leaving Wentworth was to follow the Murray River to the east and spend a couple of nights in Echuca again. A caravan park shower was the first order of business once we arrived as we had close to a week worth of dirt and grime to wash away. As you can imagine, this took quite some time in a beautiful hot shower!

Once all refreshed and clean we decided that take away was a good idea and went into town in search of some Fish and Chips. Previously we’d had some here, and the portion sizes were massive, so we were looking forward to another great feed. Sadly, whilst it was pretty tasty, it seems that the sizing had become somewhat less generous. Nobody went hungry though, so in the end it was probably about perfect.

Dinner at Moama

We were only going to stay here for 2 nights, so we spent most of the next day looking around Echuca, enjoying the historical side of the old river port. They really do this well in Echuca, opening up the old part of the town with working steam engines etc, it really takes you back and helps you imagine what it might have been like back in the day.

Rach and Leanne stayed in town for a bit of retail therapy in the afternoon while Trent and I hung out with the kids at the caravan park. It was warm enough for the kids to enjoy a swim, so we sat around the pool for a bit while the kids enjoyed playing before another nice warm shower.

Retail (and gelato) therapy

Another dinner ‘out’ was on the cards, so we headed across the river back into NSW to enjoy a couple of drinks and dinner at the Moama Bowling club. The kids enjoyed a good feed, and the adults subsequently enjoyed the provision of a kids club and some grown up conversation!

Back to the campers and off to bed before continuing down the Murray again the following day. We enjoyed our second visit to Echuca in 18 months, but feel as though we’ve done this part of Victoria pretty well now.
