16-18 May, 2014
It had only been a few weeks since our last trip, but still we were keen to get away. This time with a larger group of friends, old and new, to the Patonga Beach camping area on the Central Coast – run by Gosford City Council.
We had a couple of extras joining us too this weekend. Ella’s best friend Amy was going to spend the weekend with us, and it just happened that Ella was given her year 1 class pet/soft toy “Geoffrey” for the weekend as well.
We arrived after dark, having heard the girls sing “Let it go” from Frozen about 147 times (if I never hear that song again, it will be too soon!). Barbs was already there and, true to form, was trying to distract Rach with alcoholic beverages before camp was set.
Not long after, Lachy and Toni arrived with their brand new Patriot camper, which we were all very keen to check out! They are a great setup for a couple doing some serious off road trekking. Being essentially a roof top tent over a seriously solid trailer with awning over the kitchen etc.
Saturday was spent doing very little indeed. Lots of relaxing, chatting and riding bikes for the kids. Not to mention way too much food! We had a great little walk across to the beach in the afternoon. It is amazing that we are probably only about 20km from home in a straight line, but feel so remote!
On Sunday we had a late check out, so were able to enjoy a lunch in Patonga before returning to pack up our campsite and having a leisurely drive home.
We’d recommend this as a nice camp close to Sydney – easy for a weekend getaway.
We add 2 more nights to our total, now at 154 nights.
