It was time to take some kids form school on a Mountain Biking Camp again. We’d previously gone to Wingello State Forest, however we found out that there was another big group booked in only a week or so before we were to go.
Great place to camp
After a short hunt we found Rydal Showground, which is at the trail head of a small network of singletrack where the Jet Black 24 MTB race had been held recently. Perfect! I did a quick recce of the tracks and location the week before to make sure that everything was going to be ok, and we quickly changed our proposed location.
We only had a small group of 5 students so enjoyed a peaceful campsite at the showground, along with a camp fire and some great food. The trails are fairly simple here, but there was enough to keep us entertained. On Thursday we even made the short trip our to Mt Panorama and rode a lap of the mountain. The kids enjoyed the downhill – we started at Skyline, but not so much the uphill.
We were a hit with the locals
Three short nights, and it was time to come home. Lots of fun riding, perfect weather, and as always grateful to have the Ultimate base camp! This would be a great place to come back to, and the tracks are really suitable for the kids to ride.
